Collective Worship

Collective Worship 2026-27

We will be continuing to focus on our key values. We start each school day by coming together as a school community for an act of Worship, linked to the understanding of the key value for the half term, and always including an opportunity for children to reflect on their own thoughts and feelings.

We are very grateful for the regular input of local clergy and ministers and lay members of various denominations for their contributions to our worship in school and at our church services. Rev Nick Moir (Teversham Parish Church), Danny Driver (Christ the Redeemer Church) and Steve Mason (Hope Church).

We also visit the local church for a church service each term for key services such as Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter, as well as the end of the school year.

The values for this year are as follows: –

Autumn 1 2026

Friendship and generosity

Autumn 2 2026

Service

Spring 1 2027

Peace

Spring 2 2027

Justice and humility

Summer 1 2027

Hope and aspiration

Summer 2 2027

Courage

Autumn Term 2027

During the first half of the Autumn Term, our learning and collective worship will focus on Friendship and Generosity, encouraging children to build positive relationships, show kindness and compassion, and recognise the importance of helping others. Through our Harvest Festival celebrations, we will reflect on gratitude and generosity, giving thanks for the gifts we have and considering how we can share them with others. Anti-Bullying Week will provide valuable opportunities to explore friendship, kindness, respect and inclusion, helping children understand how their actions can positively impact those around them. We believe that true friendship reflects God's love by valuing every person as unique and precious. Friends support one another through both joyful and challenging times, encouraging each other to grow and flourish. As Saint Paul reminds us:

"Encourage one another and build each other up." 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Alongside friendship, we will explore the importance of generosity. Generosity is far more than giving money or possessions. It includes giving our time and attention to others, listening and offering support, sharing our talents and resources, caring for those who may feel lonely or excluded, and acting responsibly towards future generations by looking after our world and its resources. In doing so, we reflect God's unconditional love and help to build caring and compassionate communities.

As the Bible teaches: "God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7

In the second half of the term, our focus will shift to Service, exploring how we can use our gifts, talents and time to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Through our reflections on Remembrance, Advent and Christmas, children will consider the important themes of service, hope, love and generosity, and how they can live out these values in their daily lives. “Serve one another in love.” Galatians 5.13

Together, these themes will help our children develop as thoughtful, caring individuals who recognise the importance of friendship, generosity and service in creating a flourishing community where everyone feels valued and supported.

We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
